Quarantine Requirements for Traveling to India from July 1st

Currently, if you travel to India on or after July 1st, you will be required to undergo quarantine due to the ongoing coronavirus. The situation and travel SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) are revised or modified regularly based on the covid-19 situation in India as well as in other countries.

The quarantine measures can vary significantly from state to state. The central government mandate a 7-day institutional quarantine for all international passengers, but if you are not arriving in your home state, you can opt for a hotel quarantine in your home state. This accommodation must be arranged by the individual traveler.

Pre-Departure Requirements

Before boarding your flight, you must download and register with the Arogya Setu app for health tracking. Additionally, you will have to undergo a swab test during the quarantine period. If the test is positive, you will be referred to the appropriate health authorities for further treatment.

Post-Quarantine

After the 7-day institutional quarantine, if your swab test is negative and you are asymptomatic, you are required to undergo a minimum of 7 days of home quarantine. The duration of this quarantine may be longer in certain states. You will be continuously tracked for your health and movement status during this period.

Please check with your airline about the current quarantine rules before booking your flight. It is important to stay informed and adhere to all guidelines to ensure a safe and smooth travel experience.

Current Travel Restrictions

It is worth noting that quarantine measures are strictly enforced not only in July but for the time until the virus is completely eradicated. The quarantine protocols may vary depending on the state you are traveling to. Ensure to check the latest guidelines before making any travel plans.

Currently, India has banned all repatriation flights and no one is allowed to enter the country. Even if permission is granted, mandatory quarantine for 14 days will be enforced upon landing. This quarantine period is crucial in ensuring the safety of locals and travelers alike. The recent advisory from the Union health ministry emphasizes the need for self-imposed quarantine for travelers returning from high-risk areas and encourages employers to facilitate work-from-home arrangements for affected employees.
