Can You Smoke 10 Days After a Tonsillectomy?

Seriously, have you gone through the hardest part of stopping smoking? Don't start again please!

The Dangers of Smoking Post-Tonsillectomy

People with addiction often do things that aren't safe or healthy. What's stopping you?

First, google the healing time and post-operative steps for the operation. Since I am not a doctor, that's what I would do.

Second, wait as long as you can. If you can't wait any longer, light a cigarette. If it hurts your throat, put it out. If it doesn't hurt, don't overdo it. Keep it to a few cigarettes a day.

Putting Toxins on a Wound

What a great idea putting 700 different types of toxins on a wound in your neck. I have a feeling the 'Darwin Principle' is at work here. You're taking yourself out of the gene pool.

Stopping Smoking After 10 Days

If you are 11 days out from smoking, you have stopped. Why not take this opportunity to keep it that way?

Only if you're a fool. You've broken the back of quitting, go on and complete the journey. You'll thank me for this advice when you're old and grey and attending friends' funerals after they've died far too young of smoking-related illnesses.

Consult Your Doctor

Consult your doctor and follow their advice to avoid risking infection. But if you have gone 10 days without a cigarette, why not try to quit?

Walk away if you have gone 10 days. Don't ever look back. This is a brand new life, and welcome to it. Please see some of my other answers on the smoking subject.

The Real Question

The answer to your question is yes, you can. You're probably healed enough that you won't pop a clot or anything, but seriously, why would you?

I am 5 months quit and don't feel spectacular, but better than before. I am also 46, and it might be taking me longer because I'm old. People are going to say 46 isn't old; age is just a number. You're as old as you feel. I am old.

I am not going to go on a soapbox. I just say, if you made it this far, keep going. And going and going and going.

Think energy bunny commercial and don't correct my grammar. Lol.
